Joining the list of shocking Hollywood celebrity break ups is Ben Stiller and his wife of 17 years Christine Taylor. On Friday, May 26, in a joint statement the couple announced that they will be separating and the decision is mutual. They stated that they have “tremendous love and respect” for the other and will continue to focus on raising their kids.The couple requested the media to give the family privacy during this delicate time.
The Hollywood couple file for divorce
Stiller and Taylor dated for a year before walking down the aisle in May 2000.
The "Brady Bunch Movie" fame actress met the actor in Los Angeles in 1999. At that point, Stiller was working on a project where he future wife was set to star. The couple started dating in April 1999 and by November announced their engagement. In a 2013 interview, the actor was quoted saying that his relationship with Christine was gradual, which developed over time.
The couple are parent to two children, 15-year-old Ella Olivia and 11-year-old Quinlin Dempsey. Their daughter was born in the April 2002, while Dempsey was born in July 2005. 51-year-old Ben, in a 2013 interview with Parade told that reel life imitated real life when he was set to propose Christine, as at that time he was working on the motion picture "Meet the Parents.” Stiller has worked with the 45-year-old actress in several movies.
The couple were cast together in 2001's “Zoolander,” “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story” and “Tropic Thunder.”
