After two weeks of reruns, "Saturday Night Live" is back with an all-new episode this weekend. On May 6, actor Chris Pine will host and the musical guest will be LCD Soundsystem.

Live in all time zones

May 6 will mark the second of four live coast-to-coast episodes of "Saturday Night Live." During the live coast-to-coast episodes, the shows will air live simultaneously all across the country. So no matter what coast viewers are watching from, they will all be watching the show live. In a regular broadcast of "SNL," only those people in the Eastern and Central time zones are actually watching a live show.

The last live coast-to-coast episode was on April 15 when Jimmy Fallon hosted and Harry Styles served as the night's musical guest.

May 6 will be the first time that Chris Pine will host "Saturday Night Live." The 36-year-old Los Angeles-born actor is best known for his role as Captain Kirk in the "Star Trek" movies. He is currently promoting his newest movie, "Wonder Woman," which comes out on June 2. In the film, Pine plays Steve Trevor, the love interest of Wonder Woman.

Joining Chris Pine on the "SNL" stage on May 6 is LCD Soundsystem. This will be the band's first time ever performing on "Saturday Night Live." LCD has been working on a new album and has performed a few new songs during recent concerts.

The new tunes, "Tonight," "American Dream," and "Call Police" have all been well received by fans.

2010 was the last time that LCD Soundsystem released a new album. Shortly after that, the band called it quits, and it wasn't until 2016 that they got back together. Since their reunion, they have been working on their new studio album and it should be released some time later this year.

The group's appearance on "Saturday Night Live" will likely get people talking and looking forward to the upcoming album.

Upcoming episodes

After this weekend, there will only be two more episodes left of this season of "SNL." On May 13, Melissa McCarthy will host for the fifth time. The girl band Haim will be the musical guest, and it will mark their second time on the show.

The last time they performed on "SNL" was on November 23, 2013.

Season 42 will come to an end on May 20 with Dwayne Johnson serving as host. The season finale will be Johnson's fifth time hosting and there will be music by Katy Perry. Perry sang on "SNL" two times before, and even hosted an episode back in December of 2011.
