The highly-anticipated Marvel movie, “Avengers: Infinity War,” is being shot at Hogwarts.

Production has been underway since January 2017, and several action sequences were in the UK and Atlanta. According to the filmmaker, the team will travel to New York City for some reshoots. A couple of scenes have been filmed at Hogwarts set. Previously, the location was used for several high-school scenes in “Harry Potter.” The Tab has reported that production will take place at Durham Cathedral throughout this month.

For this, the site has been closed to the public, and only a small hall is open for morning prayers.

The courtyard and lawns of Durham Cathedral were used in the 1998 movie “Elizabeth," and several TV shows. There is no information about the New York City shoot, but we assume that scenes will be shot at the iconic Avengers Tower.

Shooting at Durham Cathedral

If “Avengers: Infinity War” is shooting at the cathedral, the filmmaker has to focus on the lighting and overall look of the set. Durham Cathedral is home to the Shrine of St Cuthbert and dates from 906. The current building was founded in the 10th century. The filmmaker is likely to use the nearby Durham Castle, and Palace Green for shooting, but nothing is confirmed. Durham Cathedral has a tall tower where temporary lights are placed for night shooting.

The film was first announced in August 2014, with Russo brothers serving as executive producers.

Earlier this month, a Marvel spokesperson revealed that the film would be shot in Georgia, Scotland, Glasgow, and Edinburgh. Alan Silvestri wrote the score for the famous “Avengers” film.

He is back to write the score of “Avengers: Infinity War.” The movie will swing into theaters on May 4, 2018, and Marvel has plans to release it in IMAX and DVD formats. An untitled spin-off is also in the works and scheduled for May 2019. There is no information about its cast and story.
