Disney's "High School Musical" was extremely popular, becoming a mega-successful franchise. The original songs were a total hit, and was even turned into a concert. What made "HSM" squeal-worthy is the on-and-off screen romance of the show's lead actor and actress, Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens. So are they going to reprise their beloved roles for the "High School Musical 4" movie?

Zac Efron (Troy Bolton) and Vanessa Hudgens (Gabriella Montez) fulfilled every teen's dream at the time by bringing their on-screen romance off-screen. The "High School Musical" stars' chemistry was so undeniable that when they officially revealed that they were dating their relationship was well-received by "HSM" fans.

However, just like any other Hollywood celebrity couple, they ended up heading to Splitsville after a few years of dating.

Zac & Vanessa joins 'HSM 4' cast?

With the possibility of "High School Musical 4," fans are probably more curious as to how the story will go now that Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens are not together anymore. Disney may still continue their love story in "HSM 4" and just rely on their acting skills to make everyone believe that they're still in love. Or maybe the company will take their split as an inspiration for the story of Troy and Gabriella.

Although "High School Musical 4" will definitely bring joy to fans, Vanessa Hudgens seemingly crushed everyone's hope of the possibility of her being a part of the much-awaited fourth installment of the Disney movie.

The 28-year-old singer and actress revealed that she is not ready to play an older character yet so she may pass on the opportunity of returning for "HSM 4."

ZaNessa is officially over!

"I mean, I'm 28," Vanessa Hudgens told E! News. "I could be a teacher, but I refuse to be a teacher! I'm still a teenager at heart. So probably not with me, but I'm excited to see what they whip together." Disney has previously revealed that there will be a new cast for "High School Musical 4," but many are still hoping that Zac Efron and his ex will make a cameo.

Although Austin Butler's girlfriend seemingly confirmed that she will not be a part of it, she did leave a message for the new cast. "Just have fun. We were just kids running around having fun," she said.

Now that the chance of seeing Vanessa Hudgens in "High School Musical 4" is getting slimmer, the actress also debunked all rumors that she may rekindle her romance with Zac Efron.

Talking to Access Hollywood Live back in March, the "Spring Breakers" star revealed that she doesn't speak to the "Baywatch" actor anymore. "Oh yeah, no, that's not a thing that happens. No, I completely lost contact with him."
