WWE’s biggest power couple is finally tying the knot! John Cena and Nikki Bella, whose relationship has been documented for several seasons on the E! Entertainment series “Total Divas” and “Total Bellas,” got engaged tonight during "WrestleMania 33." The proposal came moments after they beat The Miz and Maryse in the night’s much-anticipated tag team match.
He liked it, so he finally put a ring on it
WWE fans weren’t very surprised when Cena got down on one knee and asked for Bella’s hand in marriage. Rumors of a WrestleMania proposal have been swirling for weeks, with fans placing bets on if it would happen during their tag team match against The Miz and Maryse.
The proposal speculation was even used as part of the event’s promotion.
After winning the anticipated match against the Miz and Maryse, Cena reminded Bella of the moment when she was being wheeled in for neck surgery. At the time, he asked if she knew they would get married and she told him yes. He went on to tell her he needed her to say yes one more time before getting down on one knee and presenting her with a beautiful diamond ring. She of course said yes and they sealed the deal with a kiss.
A long time coming
The couple has been together since 2012, ever since Cena's first marriage ended in divorce. Fans have seen the couples' love blossom on reality TV as well as in and out of the ring.
Throughout their relationship, we have seen the couple go through ups and downs and everything in between.
The subject of marriage often came up on both shows, with the two of them having conflicting thoughts on the issue. He often said that he was not interested in getting married or having children. She often said that she wanted to be married and wanted to spend the rest of her life with him.
However, in 2016, Cena finally seemed to come around and the two began discussing marriage. This will be the second marriage for Cena, who was previously married to Elizabeth Huberdeau. It will be the first time down the aisle for Bella.
