One of the most recent trailers released is a new children's movie. It is called "Captain Underpants" and it seems to be making quite the stir.
What is Captain Underpants?
"Captain Underpants" is a novel series written by Dave Pilkey. The series contains twelve books and three spin-off books. The story line follows two fourth grade boys named George Beard and Harold Hutchins. They live in Ohio and write comic books in their spare time. The star of their comics is a wonky superhero named Captain Underpants. The boys seem to always get into trouble with their principle Mr.
Krupp. One day the boys decide to hypnotize Mr. Krupp and make him nice. By mistake Mr. Krupp transforms into Captain Underpants. He then goes on many adventures before he turns back into Mr. Krupp. Moving forward, anytime someone snaps Mr. Krupp transforms into Captain Underpants. In order for him to turn back water must be poured on his head.
What can we expect from the movie based off the book?
We can guess the actual movie will be very similar to the novel. The author of the book is one of the screen writers. The movie will star Ed Helms, Nick Kroll, Thomas Middleditch, and Kevin Hart. The movie will follow the journey of George Beard (Kevin Hart) and Harold Hutchins (Thomas Middleditch).
The young boys hypnotize Mr. Krupp and he begins to believe he is Captain Underpants (Ed Helms plays both roles). Captain Underpants and the boys set out to stop the mad scientist Professor Poopypants and the tattletale genius Melvin Sneedly from threatening the world.
The title of the movie boasts that it is "The First Epic Movie.
" This leads us to believe that if the first movie goes well then the entire series could potentially be brought to cinemas sooner rather than later. The entire novel is being brought to the big screen by DreamWorks entertainment. Interest in transforming the book into a movie dates back to around the same time the original novel was released in 2007. On October 20, 2011, DreamWorks received rights to turn the book into a screenplay. The film has been taking shape every since. The release date is listed as June 2, 2017.
