It was the "Most Memorable Year" episode on Monday night's "Dancing with the Stars" and emotions were high. Celebrities first shared details about their most memorable year and then they told the story through a dance. Most of the stories were touching that made the hosts, judges, participants and the audience choke up and shed some tears.

Nancy Kerrigan

Before Nancy Kerrigan danced with her professional partner, Artem Chigvintsev, she opened up about her struggles to have children. Since she was about 10 years old, she said she wanted three children.

She and her agent husband Jerry Solomon had their first child in 1996 just one year after they were married. It would be eight more years before Matthew would have siblings. That's because Nancy had six miscarriages in eight years.

Kerrigan wanted more children but the tragedies kept happening. Then she and her husband had another son, Brian, in 2005 after in vitro fertilization treatments. Three years later, they welcomed a baby girl named Nicole in 2008. That means the former Olympian figure skater had been pregnant a total nine times. However, she has the three children she wanted.

Nancy indicated that she felt ashamed and wondered what she had done wrong. When she was telling her story during rehearsal, her partner consoled her.

After her dance, host Erin Andrews gave her a pep talk and said she probably helped someone by being so open and honest by telling her story.

The dance

The 47-year-old former figure skater dedicated her dance to her children. Matthew is now 20, Brian is 12 and Nicole is nine. Kerrigan and her partner scored a 33 out of 40 for their foxtrot to "My Wish" by Rascal Flatts.

Nancy and Artem are on top of the pack, but so are several others. For instance, Rashad Jennings and Emma Slater received the first 10s of the season. Their score was 39 out of 40. Simone Biles and Sasha Farber received a score of 36. Heather Morris and Alan Bersten (who is replacing Maksim Chmerkovskiy) received a 35. The others had scores lower than Nancy and Artem.

Nancy will probably continue on the show to the end. She has been safe every week so far. Mr. T was eliminated last night. Next week is "Disney Night." It should be a fun episode, with dancers performing routines inspired by Disney movies.
