Two years after their infamous separation, movie stars Ben Affleck, and Jennifer Garner have filed for divorce. And just like Janet Jackson and Wissam Al Mana, the divorce is said to be amicable.

Reports state Garner filed a petition while Affleck filed a response which mirrors her petition fueling suspicion that the two movie stars well coordinated the decision to file for a divorce.

Separation a day after 10th anniversary

Affleck and Garner got married in 2005 and are said to have separated in 2015 a day after their 10th wedding anniversary. The couple has three kids Violet, 11, Seraphina, 8, and Samuel, 5.

It is not clear what was the cause of the separation, but reports indicate that Affleck had been having an affair with their nanny Christine Ouzounian. This was after tabloids alleged Affleck was financing her stay at the high-priced Hotel Bel-air in Beverly Hills.

However, Garner was quoted saying that her separation with Affleck had nothing to do with the affair with the nanny as she only came to know about the affair months after their divorce.

Affleck’s Alcohol addiction

Despite their separation in 2015, the couple has remained close friends co-parenting their three children. Last month, Affleck credited his wife to his successful battle with alcohol addiction.

The 44-year-old actor had checked himself into rehab two weeks after the 2017 Oscars after he had decided enough was enough.

The actor has always talked about the alcohol addiction in his family during interviews. However, it is not clear if Affleck's addiction was the reason why he stepped out of directing a standalone in Batman in January.

No legal representation or Prenup

Documents indicate that the couple is not going to have any legal representation.

All pointers indicate that the divorce would be solved through a mediator and it would be finalized in a timeline of 6 months. Affleck and Garner do not have any existing prenup agreement so a higher possibility indicates that their earnings in the 10-year-old marriage would be shared equally unless they agreed otherwise. However, sources say the couple was still negotiating for a financial settlement.

In the divorce filing, the former Power Couple is seeking joint physical and legal custody of their three children, and they have not indicated anything regarding whether Garner or Affleck would be entitled to spousal support. The judge presiding over their divorce is expected to decide on who is entitled to the support.
