Apparently, Michelle Obama is Team chance the rapper. The former First Lady doesn't tweet as much since leaving the White House recently after Barack Obama's second term. However, Michelle took to #Twitter and showed some love for Chi-Town rap phenom, Chance the Rapper, after his million dollar gift to the public school system.

Money talks

On Monday, Chance, birth name, Chancelor Johnathan Bennett, held a news conference at Westcott Elementary School, where he pledged to donate $1 million to Chicago Public Schools from upcoming concert tour proceeds.

The Grammy Award-winning rapper, who grew up nearby on Chicago's South Side, made the appearance on the heels of a contentious meeting with Illinois' governor.

Chance the Rapper and Governor Bruce Rauner met after a "chance" meeting on Twitter in the wake of the rapper's milestone at the Grammys. Sources said the pair met Friday for nearly an hour over issues pertaining to government subsidies for public schools, to no avail.

The state is in the midst of a budget crisis and shortfall. As a consequence, experts say if funds are not allocated, students may have a shorter than expected school year. Chance the Rapper emerged from the meeting, visibly upset, and addressed the governor's reticence on Periscope.

"Governor Rauner still won’t commit to giving Chicago’s kids a chance without caveats or ultimatums. Our kids should not be held hostage because of political position."

A spokesperson issued a statement and highlighted the philanthropy of the governor and challenged officials to sit down for a spirited discussion on how to shore up funding for CPS.

Michelle Obama takes notice

Michelle Obama praised Chance the Rapper for his $1 million pledge to education. "Thanks @chancetherapper for giving back to the Chicago community, which gave us so much,” Michelle Obama wrote. "You are an example of the power of arts education."

Michelle Obama, a Chicago resident, recently returned from a post-White House vacation with Barack Obama.

Michelle and the former POTUS spent weeks with their pal, Sir Richard Branson. They were guests on his private island in the British Virgin Islands.

Michelle was seen in Washington recently trying to blend in with commoners. Mrs. Obama was spied emerging from a SoulCycle location after working up a sweat. Michelle exchanged lace Jason Wu dresses and beguiling Versace gowns for black leggings, sunglasses and a ball cap.
