Just days after making an appearance together at the Vanity Fair Oscar’s party last Sunday, Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom called it quits. The representatives of both the stars released a statement on Wednesday that both were taking a respectful break after dating for almost one year. Sources say that even though the couple came together for the Vanity Fair Oscar event, they did not spend much time together at the event.
Katy looks happy after split
On Wednesday, after announcing her split with Orlando, Katy looked happy and was seen enjoying time with friends in a video posted on Instagram.
The singer is looking ahead and is focusing on her latest music and the album “Chained to the Rhythm,” which is her new single.
It all started at the Golden Global Awards in 2016
Katy Perry, the 32-year old pop star and Orlando Bloom, the 40-year old British actor were seen flirting at the Golden Global Awards back in 2016 for the first time. On Monday, Orlando did share a selfie with Perry’s pet dog, Butters.
Katy has dated John Mayer and Travie McCoy in the past and married Russell Brand. They were married in 2010 and got divorced in 2012. On the other hand, Orlando has a child with Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr. They were married from 2010 to 2013.
On Tuesday, US Weekly reported that the representatives of Katy and Orlando confirmed that the couple had called it quits.
They wanted to confirm that both Katy and Orlando were breaking it off and letting people know before the rumor mill started rolling.
A surprise 40th birthday party for Orlando
Last month, Katy Perry threw a surprise 40th birthday party for Orlando, who is famous for his roles in Pirates of the Caribbean. The birthday bash was held at Palm Springs, where Katy introduced her newly dyed blonde locks.
The party was also attended by Orlando’s mother, who flew in to give the actor a surprise visit on his birthday.
On Thanksgiving Day, both Katy and Orlando celebrated with Katy’s family where they both wore the same colored pajamas. At the Snowflake ball by UNICEF in New York City, Katy Perry stated that her partner has the kindest heart.
