In the first "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie by Marvel Comics, the main character was Peter Quill as Star-Lord. The movie followed him as he was abducted from Earth as a child until he found his new family in the Guardians and saved the universe. However, in "Guardians Of The Galaxy 2," director James Gunn said that everyone has a role to play in this sequel movie and has their own character arcs.
The motivations for each 'Guardians of the Galaxy' member
Of course, Peter Quill won't be left behind when it comes to importance in "Guardians of the Galaxy 2." As a matter of fact, the movie will deal a lot with Peter finding out who his father really is in this movie. James Gunn has already revealed that his father is Ego: The Living Planet and the most recent trailer shows that it is the character Kurt Russell plays. Also already announced is that Nebula will return, but instead of remaining a villain as she was in the first movie, she is now on the side of the heroes and the movie will deal with her relationship with her sister Gamora.
Rocket will be searching for someone to relate to and might find it in Yondu. Drax also develops a relationship with a new character called Mantis, who becomes a surrogate daughter to replace the one that Ronan murdered. Finally, there is Baby Groot who has the worst people in the galaxy to ensure his survival.
The plot for the 'Guardians' sequel
James Gunn has done a nice job at dropping clues as to what fans can expect to see in "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" without actually spoiling too much of the plot. That is especially impressive since this Marvel movie is the next to hit theaters and will be here on May 5. It turns out that the film will see some action on Earth, although the Guardians are not who are heading to Earth.
The first movie will also start a couple of months after the first movie ended with the Ravagers wanting Quill's head for double crossing them and questioning Yondu's allegiance. Outside of that, James Gunn said that the new "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie is about the team learning that what they wanted they might have had all along.
