The 89th annual Academy Awards took place on Sunday night, and as expected, President Donald Trump was used as a punching bag for political humor at various points during the evening. After one award winner refused to attend due to Trump's "Muslim ban" executive order, a speech was read in place of his acceptance, which didn't go over well with right-wing firebrand Tomi Lahren.

It's no secret that President Donald Trump is not viewed in a positive light by the majority of Hollywood celebrities. Trump and his supporters have returned the favor, accusing the more liberal Hollywood of being "elitist" who push their political views on Americans who want no part of them.

At the Academy Awards, Iranian director Asghar Farhadi won the Oscar for best foreign film, but was not in attendance to accept. Instead, Farhadi had Anousheh Ansari, the first women from Iran to travel to space, accept on his behalf, where he criticized Trump over his alleged targeting of Muslims. In response, Trump supporters were not pleased, which was evident during the February 27 edition of "Final Thoughts" on the Blaze TV with Tomi Lahren.

"Last night the Hollywood elite arrived at the Oscars ready to lecture us about how bad they think our president is," Tomi Lahren said about the Academy Awards to open her "Final Thoughts" segment. "The real treasure of the night was listing to a written statement from an Iranian director about how President Trump's temporary travel ban disrespects his people," Lahren stated, before sarcastically adding, "a lecture on tolerance and inhuman laws from an Iranian, that's rich."

"In the Islamic Republic of Iran, his homeland, gays are executed, press freedom is non existent, government opponents are imprisoned or murdered, women are burned in acid attacks, and children are subjected to the death penalty," Tomi Lahren pointed out.

"You know you are doing something 'positive' when the Iranian government applauds your actions," she continued, before stating, "That would be Iran, a state-sponsor of terror. A state-sponsor of terror that was included in the Obama administration's watch-list."

Not stopping there, Tomi Lahren continued to rip into Farhadi's statement, as well as the Hollywood star's acceptance of its contents.

"If the desire to keep American's safety disrespects your people more than the human right's violations of your own beloved government, you are truly living in 'La La Land,'" Lahren said, before calling on Farhadi to boycott the entire United States. "The fact that you so arrogantly believe that Americans should compromise their safety and security to save your feelings is amazing to me," she continued, before later concluding, "Luckily, we have a president, richer than all of you, who still cares about the average American."

Moving forward

As Tomi Lahren and other supporters of Donald Trump continue to stand in opposition to Hollywood and the alleged "liberal elitists," the divide in the United States only continues to widen. With the Academy Awards now in the past, it doesn't appear that common ground will be found anytime soon.
