The lineup for the fifth annual Rise Above Fest has been announced, and Seether lead singer Shaun Morgan was able to get some big name acts to show up for his two day Rock Festival in Bangor, Maine. Korn and Shinedown will each headline a day, but there are plenty of big name acts on both days to keep fans happily banging their heads all weekend long. This will be the first year that Rise Above Fest expands to two days. The concert takes place this summer on July 22 and 23 at Darling's Waterfront Pavilion.
Day 1
Korn will take the stage last on Saturday with at least ten acts preceding the Bakersfield, California veteran band.
Corey Taylor and the boys of Stone Sour will return to Bangor as will the Christian rock band Skillet. Seether, Falling In Reverse and Red Sun Rising will also be performing on the main stage.
With both Korn and Corey Taylor at the same venue fans may just be treated to a live version of their collaboration "A Different World."
Day 2
On Sunday, All That Remains, Theory of a Deadman, Starset, Pop Evil, and Hellyeah will get the party going before giving way to Lzzy Hale and the guys of Halestorm. Shinedown will bring the festival to a close. The multi-platinum selling band has just begun work on their sixth studio album.
Halestorm and Shinedown were both part of 2016's Carnival of Madness Tour
Turning tragedy into something positive
Morgan started the Rise Above Fest to raise money for suicide awareness.
Suicide touched Morgan's life in 2007 when his brother, Eugene, jumped out of a hotel window to his death. Morgan wrote the song "Rise Above This" to honor his brother and that is where the music festival gets its name. All proceeds from the event are donated to SAVE, Suicide Awareness Voices of Education. In the four previous years the event has raised over $100,000 for suicide awareness.
Tickets will become available on Friday, February 24 and can be purchased through Ticketmaster. For more information and a complete lineup of acts you can hit up the Rise Above Fest page on Facebook.
