Casey Affleck won this year's Oscar for best actor in "Manchester By The Sea." In the movie, Affleck plays the part of a man grieving and raising his nephew after his brother's death. Social media agreed that Casey's acting ability was worthy of him being nominated, but very few believed he should have won over the other nominees especially Denzel Washington for his role in "Fences" and Viggo Mortensen for “Captain Fantastic.” Besides Washington and Mortensen, other nominees for best actor were Andrew Garfield for “Hacksaw Ridge” and Ryan Gosling for “La La Land.”
Social media was quick to point out the 41-year-old actor's two lawsuits that were settled out of court.
In the past, Affleck allegedly harassed and assaulted two women dating back to 2010. Women groups believe the Oscars did improve by promoting gender diversity, but the Academy Award failed by awarding bad behavior toward women. They added that Affleck has more power now that he has an Oscar.
Affleck honored Washington in his acceptance speech, but a lot of people on Twitter think Washington but didn't stand a chance of winning because of his race.

The 62-year-old actor has been in the business for 32 years, and he knows how nominations and winning awards work.
Therefore, he is moving on and continuing to do what he does without complaining. Even though the Oscar statue is the most coveted award for acting, Washington has won many awards for being an actor on stage and on the big screen, a director and producer.

Washington has received three Golden Globe Awards, a Tony and two Academy Awards.
One was an Oscar for his best supporting actor role in the 1989 historical war drama film "Glory," and the other Oscar was for best actor as a corrupt policeman in the 2001 crime thriller "Training Day."
Washington probably would have welcomed another Oscar for his mantle, but he knows and his fans know that he is one of the best actors in the world. If you have not seen "Fences" yet, plan to do so and see for yourself that he is a great actor.
