When dannielynn birkhead, who looks nearly identical to her mother, was 5-months-old, her mother, who was just 39-years-old, was declared dead in Hollywood, California, after suffering a drug overdose at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. Months prior, just days after Smith gave birth, her oldest child, son Daniel, died of a drug overdose in the Bahamas.
Following Smith's passing, a custody battle broke out between Larry Birkhead and Howard K. Stern, who was reportedly dating Smith at the time she died. Virgie Arthur was also involved in the battle but ultimately, Birkhead was confirmed to be Dannielynn’s biological father.
Larry Birkhead is keeping Anna's memory alive
A couple of years ago, Birkhead told Entertainment Tonight that he and Dannielynn often visit her mom’s grave and share stories about her life.
“I look at her and she’s my everything,” Birkhead said of his daughter. “[Dannielynn] reminds me so much of her mom and as she gets older, and her features are changing, it’s just like having a little miniature [Anna] running around in so many ways.”
