Some pictures of "Game of Thrones" star Maisie Williams (who plays one of the most-loved characters in the show, Arya Stark) washed all over the web in the last few hours. It was unclear how Williams' topless pictures surfaced, but according to her representatives, the photos are real. Maisie Williams intended to share them with her inner circle via Facebook, but something went wrong and somehow the pictures ended up on Reddit (and shortly after that, on tons of other websites).

The photos were taken at a Spa in Japan

The 19-year old "Game of Thrones" star recently visited the Japanese town of Taiji, where she spoke against marine shows and dolphin hunting (Williams is a Ric O'Barry's Dolphin Project's ambassador and the town of Taiji is the one whose dolphin hunt was documented in the 2009 Oscar-winning film "The Cove").

Several sources claim that the photos of Maisie were taken at a Spa beside the sea. The "Game of Thrones" actress has yet to comment on the pictures, but her representative apparently explained, at least in part, how the photos leaked online.

The pictures were probably stolen from a private social media account

According to what "Page Six" reported, the star wanted to share the pics with her inner circle via Facebook, but - as her representative confirmed - someone lifted the photos from Maisie Williams' private account. "We don't know how precisely these photos were stolen and ended up on Reddit."

We must underline that the pictures are not provocatory. The images (one depicting Maisie alone on a rock, two featuring the star with two friends of hers) are not even explicit in nature but clearly weren't supposed to be shared with the world.

Maisie Williams is the latest celebrity to have her privacy violated by Internet hackers and the leak already fueled a new discussion on newspaper and magazines about privacy in the digital era.

Maisie Williams will be back on the screen for the most-awaited Game of Thrones season 7, which will air in Summer 2017, probably at the end of June.
