The cast of “NCIS: Los Angeles” has a case of the holly jollies. It’s Christmas time on the set of CBS’ “NCIS: LA,” and Hetty’s (Linda Hunt) team is whole once more. Daniela Ruah is back on set, and, as such, Kensi is back on her feet.
Kensi returns to the field
Ruah is back from maternity leave, and that can only mean one thing – Kensi is out of the hospital. The actress filmed her season 8 post-crash arc early last summer, ensuring Agent Blye would appear in episodes 3 through 10 while she spent time with her newborn daughter.
Now, however, filming has begun for December’s episode 11, which means new material for the new mom.
“Official first day back,” Ruah teased on Monday, captioning a photo of herself in the OSP gym.
It certainly looks like Kensi is ready for action, but, due to the serious nature of the character’s injuries, it’s unknown if the special agent will jump directly back into the fray. Considering “Crazy Train,” “Parallel Resistors,” “Glasnost,” and an untitled 10th episode will give her plenty of time to recover, Kensi should be back to full strength by midseason.
A long recovery on ‘NCIS: LA’
That’s not to say Kensi doesn’t have a long road ahead of her.
“Home Is Where the Heart” showed the physical and emotional toll Syria took on our heroine, and that story will continue to unspool over the coming weeks.
“I know that it's a long road to recovery for her,” Eric Christian Olsen (Deeks) told TV Guide. “At the end of the day, I think we're gonna get her back 100 percent physically, but there's no way to go through these types of things unscathed as far as what it's done to their psyche.”
In the meantime, check out the summary for this Sunday’s “NCIS: LA” adventure, "Crazy Train."
“Callen goes undercover as a patient in a mental health hospital to search for an NSA agent who disappeared while tracking an ISIS cell trying to cross the Mexican border,” CBS teased.
