In a time when a number of members of Congress, such as John Conyers and Al Franken, are under fire from accusations of past sexual harassment and are being urged to resign their seats, another name comes to mind of someone who needs to retire to private life – Nancy Pelosi. Pelosi needs to resign from Congress, not because she has sexually harassed anyone, but because she appears to be losing it. While the House Minority Leader has been known to say alarming things during her career, the recently passed tax bill, versions of which are being reconciled in a conference committee, has placed her over the edge.
Is tax reform the end of the world?
According to the New York Post, Pelosi stated that the Tax Reform bill was “Armageddon” and “the end of the world.” The Hill also noted that Pelosi said that the bill was the worst ever considered in the history of the Congress, a remarkable statement as she was one of the authors of the Orwellian named Affordable Care Act.
Usually, when people start ranting about the end of the world, they are either tolerated with a shake of the head, locked up so they can’t hurt anyone or themselves, or become the leader of a powerful cult. Pelosi is not going to be locked up, and she is already one of the most influential leaders of the Democratic Party, an organization more given to theocratic mania than defendable public policy.
She is, however, in her late 70s and does not seem to be aging well.
In Pelosi’s defense, the fact of Donald Trump in the White House has proven trying, at times, even to his supporters. The House Minority Leader is fervent San Francisco liberal, with all that implies. Seeing Trump run through progressive accomplishments like Tamburlaine through Damascus must be painful for her.
Republicans get out of California
Another sign of Pelosi’s deteriorating mental faculties came in the form of a tweet that suggested that it was time for California Republicans to pack up and leave her state least they continue to sully it with their ideology.
I want every single California Republican to understand this. Your ideology doesn’t come first. Your party doesn’t come first. The PEOPLE come first. If you fail to recognize that, you don’t belong here. https://t.co/xjbyOTI2MC

To be sure, the GOP has been locked out of any control over California’s destiny, with the possible exception of the time Arnold Schwarzenegger was governor, for decades.
The result has been a burgeoning flight of the middle class to more economically healthy parts of the country, such as Texas and Florida. Life in California has become increasingly unaffordable for many people. Add to that fact deteriorating infrastructure, madcap environmental regulations, and a social culture that is somewhat more debauched than that of Sodom and Gomorrah, in very short order California will become a feudal society with Internet and Hollywood billionaires along with political aristocrats like Pelosi on top and illegal immigrants on the bottom. California needs more hard-working, middle-class Republicans, not less.
