He is one of the most dynamic and polarizing players in the National Football League and his name is Odell Beckham Jr. Not only does he have the speed, but he also has some of the best hands in the league and brings a lot of energy to the team.

Odell recently got injured last week and is out for the season which complicates his Contract terms, regardless, he deserves a max contract from the New York Giants. Beckham deserves to be one of the highest paid players in the league at his position and here is why.

Dynamic player

What makes Odell Beckham Jr.

such a great player is all the elements he contributes to a game. Not only is he returning punts at times, but he can also take snaps from the QB and run like a back. The 5 foot 11, 198 pound player is speedy, shifty, very explosive, and is an excellent route runner creating space for him to get the ball. He puts extreme pressure on any defense.

He has only improved since entering the league. Odell has revolutionized what a wide-receiver in the league can do and how important they can be to a team. He is only going to continue to get better nearing only about 25 years old in a couple of weeks.

Why he deserves the max

A player like Odell Beckham Jr. is a person we rarely see. He has accumulated 313 receptions for 4,424 yards for his career, along with a high 38 touchdowns by statistics on the ESPN database.

He is a special player filled with talent and passion for the game of football. Anybody who watches the sport every Sunday can tell. Odell has already accomplished so much and shattered so many records with only four years in the league for the team.

A player like this deserves a big payday because he was getting paid way below what he brings to the team and sport in general.

In my opinion, he is a top-5 receiver in the league behind players like Julio Jones and Antonio Brown. Notable brand Nike has been paying Beckham almost a bigger contract then the Giants have been. The team has been paying him off of his rookie contract so far.

The Giants season

The injury to Odell Beckham has definitely been another blow to a team that was expected to get into the playoffs and make a push.

The team now stands at 1-5 without their playmaker and number 1 target. There is a small chance that the Giants are able to make the playoffs, but it is very dim.

There are a lot of divisional games left so it is possible that the team catches up, but it is unlikely. The rest of the season does not look too good for the Giants, they can control their own destiny to sink or rise. There are a lot of injuries on both the offense and defense that the team has to overcome. If they were to sink to the bottom they can get a draft pick for next season.

Will he be the same?

The wide-receiver suffered a broken ankle versus the Los Angeles Chargers ending his season. I believe that Beckham will be back in stride next season and that the injury will not have a lasting impact on his career.

It is just a setback that unfortunately happened that ended his season.

The Giants must take the risk either way in signing him to a big contract because it is obvious that he is the future of the organization and he is their best player. The team would be foolish to not sign him to a big contract. This player is electric and he brings a lot of energy. The rest of the season will show how valuable he is to the organization as the offense will struggle immensely in the coming months.
