There is only one-way Donald trump can avoid the doom that is slowly and predictably enveloping him and his followers and family and employees. Say I'm innocent and shut up. Button lip. Do other things. Even people who do not like Donald concede that he may survive the most careful investigation in the world. He has not been convicted in advance.

Binary Donald

Sometimes I think God gave us Donald to show how futile it is to see everything as my way or the highway. The story embedded below will get you up to speed on the Donald method.

There is a delightful story in the Old Testament about a feisty profit named Micaiah.

The binary Kings of the moment are Ahab and Jehoshaphat. They have designs on Syria. Ahab is reluctant to consult Micaiah because he has never prophesied anything good for him. Forty other prophets say, "Go conquer Syria". The lone Micaiah, after some urging, says Ahab will never return from the projected battle. Ahab jails him. Ahab is soon killed in battle. It is not hard to pick out Trump in this scenario.

Base Chorus

Trump's base is said to be a reliable chorus, a group the president can rely on. Instead of simply letting things take their course Trump acts as though he is assured of defeat. That can only be if he knows he is guilty. Why does he protest if he is clean? He should say goodbye to his chorus of believers and hello to the country if he is clean.

The Ahab curse

The answer is that Trump suffers from the Ahab curse. Power is a great corruptor and he has always had some power in hand. If you have power you may use it to make war, win or lose. Guilt is not an issue.The whole world is bad. Binary thinking. It's me or them. Me or Mueller. Go get Mueller, West Wingers. Smash him with tweets.

So these tweets hit every front page and punctuate every TV anchor's breathless deliverance. What else is new? The man is guilty of sin or he would shut up. That has to be the message.

Unless we are convinced that Trump is no Ahab but rather the soul of rectitude. Trump will in the meantime seek to crucify a man who won every bravery and combat and other honor anyone could get for heroism in the Vietnam War. Expect the imminent savaging of Bob Mueller.
