Many disregard finding peace within themselves in life. The cold hard truth is, no one will love you until you love yourself - at least not the love you deserve. This article stems from personal experiences and it's purely my own opinions. Everyone loves differently so if you don't think that loving yourself is not as important, I'm in no place to tell you otherwise.

Everyone is tired of this phrase but as cliché as this sounds, it honestly does get better and I will repeat it to anyone who needs it until I draw my last breath. However, it only gets better if you want things to get better.

It could be confidence, anxiety, life, jobs, relationships, anything and everything. You can overcome any obstacle in your life as long as you believe in yourself and work toward overcoming it.

Self-esteem booster

Loving yourself can act as a major boost to your self-esteem and confidence. When you start loving yourself, you will look at yourself and the world differently. I'm sure everyone wants to be able to look in the mirror and be happy with what they see. It's saddening to think that many hate the way they look but the best way to overcome that is to tell yourself that beauty is subjective. Societal standards of beauty are extremely unrealistic, it requires hours of photoshop and pictures of models being professionally photographed.

You are beautiful the way you are, and you don't need to change anything about yourself - society should change.

Being able to love yourself doesn't only mean that you accept your physical appearance, but that you start to appreciate every single aspect about yourself; your personality, quirks, and habits. You will start to embrace your strengths and it will show.

If you're afraid to step out of your comfort zone because you have always doubted yourself, embracing yourself will help you gain the confidence to pursue that scary path. When you are able to pinpoint your strengths and weaknesses without beating yourself up, you will be able to enhance those traits and put them to good use.

If you have an excellent topic of discussion but you're afraid of public speaking, work toward overcoming your fear and you will be unstoppable.

Healthier environment

Going through dark moments in my life and now being in a better state, I realized that my environment has changed tremendously. Environment doesn't necessarily have to be limited to a physical place, it can include the people you surround yourself with and the elements in life you expose yourself to. I noticed that I'm emotionally stable; I stopped reading depressing posts, I started surrounding myself with friends who are supportive, and I started focusing more on my own well-being.

The Journey of self-love can be long and tiring but it is so rewarding, and you'll look at your future with a much brighter lens. My mantra every morning is "Today will be a good day and I will be fine." Find your own mantra that will give your day a boost, then go out and show the world what you're capable of!
