The Detroit Lions in Seattle are trying to do what very few teams have been able to do in recent years. Playing in Seattle must be one very unusual experience for opposing players. The Seahawks have a huge advantage with the crowd as loud as it is, and it is loud. Countless times you will see opposing offensive players get false start penalties because of crowd noise, this game has been no different.

The Seahawks play a grind it out style of football depending on quarterback Russell Wilson to basically carry the team as far as he can, so far so good.

The Lions more complex, everything depends on Matthew Stafford who can be really good, or just really average. Without Stafford, the Lions would be at home watching instead of playing.

Seattle crowd loud

The first quarter was typical Seattle football, with both teams being stagnant on offense unable to sustain a scoring drive. The first quarter ended like the game started 0-0. The second quarter everything started changing the Seahawks way. Linebacker Bobby Wagner tackled Stafford for a loss on a 4th down and one at the Seattle 38 yard line.

The Seahawks offense put together a scoring drive capped off by a Wilson to Paul Richardson touchdown. Less than five minutes later the Seahawks made it 10-0 when Steven Hauschka kicked a 43-yard field goal.

Stafford and the Lion offense continued to sputter along unable to put anything together. Running back Thomas Rawls has been the difference so far running through the Detroit defense on his way to a huge running night.

Hard fought first half

Detroit finally got on the score broad with 20 seconds left in the first half with a field goal.

Seattle led 10-3 at the half of a good, not a great football game, but one worth watching. Seattle started the third quarter with the ball, but the teams just passed it back and forth until Detroit kicked a field goal making the score 10-6 after three-quarters.

The fourth quarter was all Seahawks. First Hauschka added another field goal, then Rawls runs for a touchdown, and finally Wilson throws a touchdown to Doug Baldwin making the score 26-6.

Detroit tried to hang tough, but in the end, Seattle was just too physical on both sides of the ball. Next week if Green Bay beats New York tomorrow Seattle will travel to Atlanta for an NFL playoff game with Matt Ryan the Atlanta Falcons.

The Houston Texans eliminated the Oakland Raiders 27-14 in the earlier game today.
