There are many Democrats in the field to contest in the 2020 presidential election. There are women also in the fray but President Donald Trump feels it will ultimately boil down to a choice between Bernie Sanders or Joe Biden. He is confident of a win in the reelection against any of them and insists that he is not afraid of such competition. In his words, “It will be Crazy Bernie Sanders vs. Sleepy Joe Biden” who will emerge from among the Democratic candidates.

Daily Mail UK reports Bernie Sanders (77), a Senator from Vermont, declared in February itself that he would contest for president for a second time.

He is ahead of other Democrats in the 2020 presidential field as far as fundraising goes. He has so far raised $18 million towards his campaign. During his last bid three years back, he was considered an underdog and now he is a favorite. However, former Vice President Joe Biden has not yet announced his decision of contesting but observers feel he will join the race.

The perennial fight between Democrats and Republicans

From his recent tweets and remarks, President Donald Trump appears to be eyeing a second term in the White House. He says he is looking forward to facing any challenge and on the subject of probable competition from Bernie Sanders or Joe Biden says – “May God Rest Their Soul!” There are many Democrats in the reckoning for the White House and some have set the ball rolling but from the Republican camp, there seems to be only one contender who happens to be Donald Trump, the present incumbent.

Daily Mail UK goes on to report that Trump believes people made fortunes off him and adds, “That’s a good thing, not a bad thing.” From these utterances, one can conclude that he holds himself in high esteem.

Bernie Sander’s campaign released his tax returns and declared the combined incomes of him and his wife to be in the range of over $1 million in 2016 and 2017. It seems $400,000 of his income was from book sales. In 2018, his book ‘Where We Go from Here’ was the New York Times best-seller.

Democrats could spring a surprise

According to NBC News, President Donald Trump has talked about the 2020 presidential election.

He said that the last two Democrats who would remain at the end of the primary campaign would be former Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Bernie Sanders. He also dropped hints that none of them would be able to dent his armor and he would emerge a winner. He has faith in his abilities. However, it is too early in the day to make any forecast because there could be upsets with some women hopefuls like Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren who plan to contest. They are unknown factors, their influence on the voters is anybody’s guess and they could steal the limelight.
