The issue of immigration reform has long been at the top of Donald Trump's political agenda since the day he announced his campaign for president. Since then, Trump has pushed Congress to move forward with his plans, and doubled down on his efforts during his most recent post on social media.
Trump on immigration
Donald Trump created a media frenzy on the floor of Trump Tower back in June 2015 when he announced his plan to run for president. It was during his speech that he received his first round of media backlash after labeling illegal immigrants from Mexico as "rapists" and "murderers." In the months that followed, the former host of "The Apprentice" went on to propose immigration policies that didn't go over well with the majority of the media and his Democratic critics, including the possibility of mass deportation as well as a border wall funded by Mexico.
Since his inauguration last January, Trump has stayed true to his vision on immigration, but has been unable to get anything through Congress despite Republicans holding a majority in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. As seen on his Twitter feed on January 4, Trump thanked Republican leaders for meeting with him on Thursday to discuss the issue.
Thank you to the great Republican Senators who showed up to our mtg on immigration reform. We must BUILD THE WALL, stop illegal immigration, end chain migration & cancel the visa lottery. The current system is unsafe & unfair to the great people of our country - time for change!

Taking to Twitter on Thursday night, Donald Trump was pleased that he was able to meet with Republican members of the Senate to speak about his plans on immigration, before listing a few items he wants to make law.
"Thank you to the great Republican Senators who showed up to our mtg on immigration reform," Trump tweeted out.

Twitter reaction
In response to Donald Trump's tweet, those who oppose the administration wasted no time pushing back. "Real leaders build bridges, psycho, egomaniacal, unstable, racist maniacs want to build walls!" Bishop Talbert Swan tweeted back.
Ur the kinda guy would get wood watchin' the nukes lifting off Donnie, you're just not fit for office.

"Ur the kinda guy would get wood watchin' the nukes lifting off Donnie, you're just not fit for office," one tweet read. "Just ordered Fire and Fury, you’re the laughing stock of the world!" one Twitter user replied. "Why don't you just go ahead tear down the Statue of Liberty while we're at it?" a tweet read with sarcasm.

Impressed you know how to spell "Chain Migration" Donnie but wonder why you would want to stop that form of migration. Maybe your base hears the words and thinks it is something bad.
