One of the most heated debates in Washington remains over the issue of Illegal Immigration. While Democrats have often focused on keeping undocumented families together, Donald Trump and the Republicans have a different agenda.
Trump on immigration
The day Donald Trump announced his plan to run for president, he quickly received negative attention from the majority of the mainstream media when he lashed out over illegal immigrants entering the country from Mexico, referring to them as "rapists" and "murderers." While Republicans have been known to have a hard-line when it comes to immigration, Trump took the agenda to the next level, proposing potential mass deportation and demanding Mexico fund a southern border wall.
After his first year in office, Trump has been unable to follow through on his plans of a border wall, which was a major talking point during his campaign, but that hasn't stopped the commander in chief from making the push. In an attempt to move forward with his Immigration Reform, Trump is holding DREAMers hostage by keeping Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) on hold. As seen in a tweet on December 29, Trump is hitting back at the Democrats.
The Democrats have been told, and fully understand, that there can be no DACA without the desperately needed WALL at the Southern Border and an END to the horrible Chain Migration & ridiculous Lottery System of Immigration etc. We must protect our Country at all cost!

On Friday morning, Donald Trump continued with his antics on social media and tweeted about his current thoughts on immigration.
"The Democrats have been told, and fully understand, that there can be no DACA without the desperately needed WALL at the Southern Border," Trump tweeted, while also calling on "an END to the horrible Chain Migration & ridiculous Lottery System of Immigration." In conclusion, the president stated, "We must protect our Country at all cost!"
Instant reaction
The reaction to Donald Trump's tweet went over as expected, with critics quickly responding with anger.
"Your Grandfather was an immigrant. You should have respect for what it means to be an American. America is about a divergence of people, races, and religions. Always has been. Stop being Unamerican!" one tweet read.
America has been fine for 241 years without a wall. I highly doubt that it's "desperately needed".

The ‘lottery’ only applies to certain countries. If you’re chosen, you go through a rigorous application process. Please stop convincing your racist, moronic followers that access to America is a scratch ticket.

"So you are basically saying that if you don't get your bigoted way, hundreds of thousands of kids will suffer," one Twitter user wrote.
"You’ve already had too many diet cokes this morning please stop! Next thing you know you’ll be talking about how global warming is fake because it’s cold in NY!!" another tweet added.
End all that “chain migration”... now that your (Scottish and German) family and your in-laws (Slovenia) are all safely “chain migrated”???

"End all that 'chain migration'... now that your (Scottish and German) family and your in-laws (Slovenia) are all safely “chain migrated”???" a follow-up tweet noted. The backlash continued as the future of immigration reform remains a mystery.
