More than 50 people are confirmed and at least 400 injured as a sniper opened fire during the Route 91 Harvest music festival in Las Vegas. It is estimated that 30,000 people were in attendance for the concert. Police killed one sniper who was held up on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Hotel. The sniper has been identified as 64- year old Stephen Paddock. Law enforcement is also questioning Marilou Danley who is believed to be Paddocks roommate.

It is believed she may have information that could help the investigation.

As shots were being fired concertgoers began to run, they headed straight into where Paddock was positioned in the hotel room. With Paddock's position in the hotel, it gave him the opportunity to be able to shoot hundreds of people before he was located.

The shooter

The shooting suspect has been identified as 64-year-old Stephen Paddock of Mesquite, Nevada. Mesquite is about 80 miles away from Las Vegas. Paddock was known to local authorities but was not known to Federal law enforcement. Paddock took his own life in a hotel room on the 32nd floor at the Mandalay Bay Resort which was right by where the concert was held according to Sheriff Joseph Lombardo.

In the hotel room, police found multiple weapons and discovered that Paddock had set up a camera system. Paddock had arranged the camera system to be able to see when police arrived at his room in order to take his own life. He also had set up at least two platforms in the room which is believed he used to stand on.

Authorities believe Stephen Paddock was a "lone wolf." It is unknown at this time what the motivates for the shooting are. Police are conducting a search of Paddock's residence. Authorities also believe that Paddock was an account. He had a pilot license and owned two airplanes. Stephen Paddock was currently married but was going through a divorce.
