meghan mccain has nothing but kind words about her father and U.S. senator, John McCain, who has been diagnosed with brain cancer last week. In a lengthy statement, the Fox News host and contributor lauded her father for his bravery even after learning about his health condition.

Senior senator diagnosed with brain tumor

According to reports, the 80-year-old senator was having his regular check up when his doctor found something unusual. He was then asked to get a CT scan and an MRI where his doctor discovered a severe type of tumor above his left eye.

On Friday, John McCain underwent a surgery wherein the tumor was successfully removed.

The U.S. senator was immediately discharged a day after his operation at Mayo Clinic Hotel. His doctors assured that John McCain's underlying health is in excellent condition. They also said the patient shows no signs of neurological problems before and after the surgery.

In fact, the doctors were impressed by the senator's sharp memory even after the four-hour procedure. The medical team, however, did not provide further details whether the GOP member can go back to the U.S. Senate anytime soon. John McCain's office also assured that the politician is recovering "amazingly well" at his home in Arizona.

After the successful operation, John McCain and his family are reportedly looking into treatment options for him to fully recover from brain cancer.

Members of both Republican and Democratic Party extended their thoughts and prayers to the senior senator in this difficult time.

Former U.S. presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton took to social media to send their good wishes to the GOP member whom they lauded for his courage. The two also hoped for John McCain's speedy recovery.

Family expresses love for John McCain

Meghan McCain, on the other hand, released a statement on behalf of their family. The 32-year-old columnist and blogger admitted that the entire family was affected when her father was diagnosed with brain tumor.

But despite his condition, Meghan McCain said the U.S. senator had remained the "most confident and calm" among the family.

"He is the toughest person I know. The cruelest enemy could not break him. The aggressions of political life could not bend him," she wrote.

Meghan McCain went on, "So he is meeting this challenge as he has every other. Cancer may afflict him in many ways, but it will not make him surrender. Nothing ever has."

The MNSBC contributor ended her lengthy post by expressing her "boundless" love to her father and said that she cannot and do not wish to imagine the world without him.
