Jennifer Blumin, 40, a New York event space designer, was traveling in a small twin-engine plane with her pilot boyfriend, Nathan Ulrich, 52, along with her four-year-old and two-year-old sons. They spent Mother’s Day in Puerto Rico, left Rafael Hernandez Airport in Aguadilla at around 11 a.m. on Monday, and were on their way back to Titusville, Fla., when their plane went missing at around 2:10 p.m. that afternoon.

Plane lost contact with the control tower east of Eleuthera, Bahamas

According to officials, the twin-engine plane lost radio contact with the control tower around 37 miles east of Eleuthera in the Bahamas.

The New York Post quotes US Coast Guard Petty Officer Eric Woodall as saying that they are performing a search and rescue, adding that they are searching as long as they think they can find the pilot and passengers alive and are focusing their efforts on the Eleuthera area.

The Coast Guard said that the MU-2B plane was at 24,000 ft when it went off both the radar and radio contact with Miami. According to aviation records, the plane was supposed to land at Space Coast Regional Airport at 2:44 p.m. U.S. Coast Guard spokesman Lt.

Cmdr. Ryan Kelly said that there was no indication of any significantly adverse weather at that time.

No sign of the plane or passengers on Monday – search continues

The Coast Guard found no sign of the plane on Monday and relaunched the air and sea search early on Tuesday with the aid of the Royal Bahamas Defense Force and the U.S.

Customs and Border Patrol. There are currently two boats and four aircraft searching an area covering around 800 square miles, just outside of the Bahamas. The New York Post reports that the Royal Bahamas Defense Force is calling various docks and airstrips on a regular basis to ask if anyone has seen any wreckage.

Ulrich is known to be an excellent pilot

Blumin’s partner, Ulrich, is an engineer who used to be married to actress Rae Dawn Chong, 56, up until 2014. Chong told the New York Daily News that she was sure the mishap with the plane must be some kind of equipment malfunction. Chong said Ulrich is an excellent pilot and that she had flown hundreds of miles with him when they were together.

Ulrich is based in New Hampshire and is the founder and co-owner of the company Xootr, involved in the manufacture of folding bicycles and kick scooters. The mechanical engineer is also technical director of Radon Sport LLC, a company involved in race car design and manufacturing.
