The story is not quite what it appears to be – the New York mailman who tried to break into an East Village medical Marijuana dispensary wasn’t trying to get some of the green stuff to get a “legal high.”
30-year-old Daniel Jean was just plain angry when he couldn’t deliver mail to the address. He just wanted to do his job.
Security guard refused to let the New York mailman deliver the mail
According to a report by the New York Post, the New York mailman in question arrived at the Columbia Care New York medical marijuana dispensary at around 2:30 p.m., hoping to deliver mail to the property. However, the 53-year-old female security guard reportedly wouldn’t let Jean into the premises to do his job.
Jean then argued with the security guard at the medical marijuana dispensary on East 14th Street, close to Third Avenue, but reportedly to no avail. According to police, the security guard did offer to take the mail from Jean on behalf of business, but the mailman apparently refused to hand it over.
Despite refusing to hand the mail to the security guard, according to an NYPD spokesperson Jean returned a short while later and did hand over the mail over to a “third party.”
Jean took revenge on the security door at the medical marijuana dispensary
Jean then left the building but returned later. It turns out Jean was still angry with the security guard at the time and began to kick repeatedly at the door and ended up damaging the frame and lock on the security door. By this time the security guard had had enough of the situation and dialed 911 to get police assistance. However, at that moment, she spotted a passing police car and flagged the officers down.
NYPD officers attacked by New York mailman
According to the police, Jean was still angry when officers arrived on the scene and hit out at two of the police officers as they attempted to arrest him, reportedly injuring their back, knees, and hands. The New York Post quotes a video that has since been deleted from YouTube, where Jean could be heard saying that he was not resisting arrest and that he was standing still. Shortly after this the officers took him down to the ground and handcuffed him. The New York Daily News quotes a witness, 46-year-old Keisha Forrester who posted the video, as saying the
