After a night of terror at an Ariana Grande concert the night before, tension remains high. An unconfirmed report was made of a suspicious package and an arrest following a blast several hours earlier. The panicked crowd could be seen fleeing the scene in the food court of Manchester Mall. The mall was temporarily closed and the area was evacuated. People could be seen running in a panic and shouting at others to "Run!" The person behind the attack at Manchester Arena is believed to be dead. The blast killed 22 and injured as many as 59 were injured.
Terror in the arena
The explosion in the box office area of Manchester Arena on Monday night is believed to be a bomb. The suicide bomber behind the attack killed 22 people, many of them children. The blast happened as people were exiting the arena. The attack was carried out by a single person, but a 23 year old man has been arrested in connection with the crime, according to sources. Whether this incident is in connection with a terror network is still being investigated.
Reports were coming out shortly after 10:30 pm as concert-goers were exiting the arena. Witnesses state that they heard 2 blasts and then people began to stampede from the venue. Manchester Arena has a capacity of 21,000.
World leaders have expressed their condolences and concern, including American President Donald Trump, who called the people behind the attack "evil losers." Donald Trump is travelling abroad with his wife Melania and made this statement during his speech in Bethlehem, Israel.
Trump said: “We stand in absolute solidarity with the people of the United Kingdom. So many young, beautiful, innocent people living and enjoying their lives, murdered by evil losers in life. I won’t call them monsters because they would like that term.”
Many people still rumored to be missing
According to the Telegraph UK, many people are still missing, and relatives have been posting pictures and inquiring about their whereabouts on social media.
People are still reeling in the aftermath of this latest attack.
ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack. A 23-year-old, Salman Abedi, has been arrested in connection to the bombing. The bomb contained nails, and nuts and bolts. The metal pieces could be seen strewn around the casualties in the foyer of the arena. A vigil is planned for tonight to honor the victims of this latest terrorist attack. Ariana Grande has spoken out about the event as well.
