The Chicago police issued a second warrant on Sunday following the arrest on April 2 of a 14-year-old boy in connection with the sexual assault case of a 15-year-old Chicago girl that was live-streamed on Facebook. The subject of the second warrant is a 15-year-old boy who also participated in the sex assault incident.

Multiple videos made

The police have coordinated with Facebook and also secured social media search warrants, not just arrest warrants, for the suspects in the case. ABC Chicago reported that multiple videos were made of the live stream sex assault which was viewed by at least 40 people.

“It just disgusts me that people would look at those videos and not pick up the phone and not dial 911,” Eddie Johnson, Chicago Police Superintendent, said.

The first suspect, a 14-year-old boy now in police custody, is scheduled on Monday to appear in a juvenile court. He would face felony aggravated criminal sexual assault, manufacturing child pornography, and dissemination of child pornography.

Victim is victim of online harassment

The victim is a freshman at Lane tech High School. She went missing from her home for three days until a relative reportedly saw the live stream of the sexual assault. The mother of the 15-year-old victim took screen captures from Facebook of the live footage and submitted it to the police which used the images to track the girl who went to church with her family on the night of March 19 and dropped off near their home before she disappeared.

Commander Brendan Deenihan confirmed at a news conference at the police headquarters in Chicago that they have a video of the incident, a verifiable objective evidence of what happened to the victim. However, the 15-year-old girl is going through a difficult time, partly because of online bullying, Chicago Tribune reported.

According to Deenihan, the victim was lured by one of the attackers to a residence, and she was not allowed to leave. Up to six males are believed to have taken part in her sex assault. On March 21, she was found walking down the road near her residence.
