Everybody loves Oprah Winfrey, that huge star of afternoon talk shows, and many would probably vote for her if she chose to run for U.S. president. However, for years Oprah has said no way would she run for the White House. In fact, during an interview with Jimmy Kimmel on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” back in June last year, she said that one thing she knows for sure is that she will never run for office.
Winfrey has said pretty much the same in various interviews, including telling Stephen Colbert of “The Late Show” that running for president is not her thing, back in January this year.
Oprah rethinks her eligibility for the White House
With the current situation in the White House, however, Winfrey has said she has had a rethink on the subject. In an interview that was recorded in December, and published yesterday on Bloomberg Television, Oprah stated that the victory of President Donald Trump has made her rethink her eligibility to run for the office. Saying she never thought she had a possibility of winning and doesn’t have the experience and doesn’t know enough, she told David Rubenstein on "The David Rubenstein Show: Peer-to-Peer Conversations," she is now thinking, “Oh, oh.” Readers can see the relevant part of the interview in the video included at end of article.

#Oprah2020 a possibility?
While not officially saying she wants to run for the presidency, many on social media have expressed a desire to see #Oprah2020 become a real thing. As reported by the Christian Science Monitor, rather ironically Trump himself once suggested Winfrey would be a good fit for the presidency.
When Larry King interviewed him back in 1999, Trump said if he ever ran for office, he would consider Oprah as a running mate. In fact, he was heard to say he thought they would easily win.
Celebrities running for U.S. President
While it isn’t likely we will see the popular talk show host running for the White House, several people have theorized that it would be a good idea for well-loved celebrities to run for office.
Even Michael Moore said to CNN back in November, Democrats would have been better off running Oprah Winfrey or Tom Hanks for the office. He went on to ask why we don’t run someone that the American people love and that has good politics.
