Drug and substance abuse: Overuse of hard drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, heroin among many others can permanently alter and impair your brain.

Most of these drugs have long-lasting effects which are devastating in nature.

Instilling a sense of positive feelings and emotions enables a person to regain from mental illness.

Mental health can be promoted by avoiding negative emotions and focus on positive emotions. The feeling of hatred, envy, frustration, sadness, impatience, rage, and despair among others should be avoided at all costs.

Preventive behaviors

A person should always think optimistically. You should always believe in succeeding and try to eliminate all negative thoughts that lead to failure.

A person should develop a stronger sense of self-esteem. You should fully utilize your personal strength in succeeding. You should be contented with your ability to do what can lead to future success.

An individual should find support from other people. You should always seek help whenever there is a crisis. Human beings cannot afford to live in total isolation, hence the need for external support in case of deficiency.
