What is it about Monday that makes you want to hit the snooze button, curl up in your blankets and never leave your bed? Maybe it’s knowing you have to get up and go back to work and go another five days doing the same thing you did the week before. Monday Morning can make you realize how repetitive your life can be sometimes. There must be some way of changing that.

The key is to find ways to change your attitude. If you can change that, then it’s easier to find reasons to be happy waking up to a brand new week of work. Now, this doesn’t mean you have to wake up with a big smile on your face and get out of bed by dancing your way out.

No singing is necessary either. However, if that’s something that will help, then do it!

The night before

In order to start your Monday off right, you have to think about Sunday night. Get yourself organized The Night Before so that the next morning you don’t feel rushed and overwhelmed. Make a list of things you would like to get done on Monday. Plan on getting things done early in the week rather than pushing it off until the last minute.

Another helpful thing is to know what you want to wear. This is especially great for those of you who are not morning people. By doing this, you can sleep in a little bit longer. You know it takes most of the morning figuring out what to wear, don't deny it.

Along with that, make sure you have your bag all packed for the day.

Rise and shine

It’s finally Monday morning! The first thing you should do is turn on your bedroom light to help wake you up. By doing this right away, you will feel more awake and ready to start your day. Thomas Wehr, a psychiatrist, once did a study to see how light affects your internal clock.

He had a group of people avoid light after sunset. They ended up sleeping for more than 12 hours! Light can do wonders for your Internal Clock. If you wake up to natural sunlight, that’s even better.

Depending on what kind of morning person you are, listening to music is a great way to change your mood. If you still wake up dreading the fact that it’s Monday, turn on your favorite playlist and let it play while you get ready. Or, if you don’t like music in the morning, listen to a book or a favorite TV show.

Whatever is going to put a smile on your face, just do it.

Making sure to eat a healthy, nutritious breakfast is vital. You feel what you eat. So, if you decide to eat a donut… or two, get ready to feel gross and crabby. On the other hand, if you choose to eat something like eggs and toast with some fruit on the side, you will feel much better and ready to move forward with your day.

Lastly, take a moment to reflect on life. As corny as that may sound, it will help. If you are really struggling to find a way to be in a better mood, think about things in your life that you are truly grateful for. By acknowledging what beautiful things life has presented you with, it will be easier to step into work and start the week off with a better attitude.
