Coffee is one of the most common beverages in the world. Millions of people all across the globe drink coffee while having breakfast, while some keep drinking throughout various times during the day. A new study has shown that consuming large quantities of coffee daily can significantly lower the Risk of death in people. The research, which was conducted by scientists at the Hospital de Navarra in Pamplona, Spain, revealed that drinking four cups of the beverage daily is ideal for the body to have lesser chance of dying.

How was the study conducted?

The study followed around 20,000 participants and routinely tested them over a period of almost 10 years. All of the participants drank various amounts of coffee in their daily lives. One section of the people did not engage in coffee drinking at all. This variety in the study group gave scientists ample opportunities to understand whether coffee could be the driving force behind any changes in physical traits and the immune system.

What the study discovered

The study revealed that those participants who consumed at least 4 cups of coffee each day were 64 percent less likely to die than those people who did not consume the drink or hardly consumed it.

The study also found that all participants aged 45 and above also witnessed some benefits of consuming coffee. For instance, it was seen that for this age group, drinking two additional cups of the beverage resulted in 30 percent reduction in chances of death.

Scientists revealed that drinking considerable amounts of coffee each day should be included as part of a healthy diet and one which is essential to maximize the well-being of the body.

This study follows other research that was done regarding the same theory. In those experiments as well, it was discovered that coffee drinking can be connected to lower risk of death.

In July, two new studies were published in the Annals of Internal Medicine which also indicated that coffee drinking is a healthy habit and can delay death risks in people. In one of the studies, over 185,000 Americans were considered as participants and it discovered that the regular consumption of the beverage was linked with reduced risk of death as a result of heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes, and kidney disease in African-Americans, whites, Latinos, and Japanese-Americans.

So, the next time you think about ordering a refill for your coffee at the local diner, remember that the drink may be helping to keep you alive longer and is not necessarily a bad beverage to have.
