It would not be wrong to say that we are living in the thick of a Second Golden Age for TV and that you may have heard if you are following television critics on Twitter. In recent months, horror and genre-themed series have gained tremendous success. If you have nothing special to do this weekend, you may enjoy the following series with your family or friends.
‘The Good Place’
“The Good Place” is one of the most famous comedy series to date. Mike Schur created it, premiered on September 19, 2016, on NBC.
The show explored the life of Eleanor Shell, a deceased girl who woke up in the afterlife and was sent by Michael to "The Good Place," a heaven-like utopia he designed, in reward for her righteous life. “The Good Place” was admired for its cast, originality, unique tone, and story. Kristen Bell, William Jackson Harper, Jameela Jamil, Arcy Carden, Manny Jacinto, and Ted Danson played the leading characters.
‘Legion’ – television series
“Legion” is a famous cable television series created by Noah Hawley for FX, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. It was connected to the “X-Men” film series, the first TV show to be so, and was produced by Marvel Television and FX Productions. Dan Stevens starred as Haller, a mutant diagnosed with schizophrenia at a young age.
The show also featured Rachel Keller, Jeremie Harris, Aubrey Plaza, Amber Midthunder, Bill Irwin, Jean Smart, and Katie Aselton. Most recently, Marvel Television and FX have announced a new series based on another film franchise, but there is no official date.
‘The Bold Type’
“The Bold Type” is an American drama developed by Sarah Watson, featuring Meghann Fahy, Katie Stevens, and Aisha Dee.
It is inspired by the life of former Cosmopolitan editor Joanna Coles. The story revolves around three best friends - Jane, Kat, and Sutton - who work for a fashion magazine. It features Katie Stevens as Jane, Aisha Dee as Kat, Meghann Fahy as Sutton, Sam Page as Richard, Matt Ward as Alex, and Melora Hardin as Jacqueline.
‘Game of Thrones’
“Game of Thrones” is one of the most famous television series to date. It is created by David Benioff, an adaptation of “A Song of Ice and Fire.” The show is filmed at Titanic Studios in Belfast, on location in the UK, and in Iceland. Set on the fictional continent of Westeros, “Game of Thrones” centers on three main story arcs. The show has attracted record viewership on HBO in recent months. It is mostly admired for its star performances, story, and overall presentation.
