Beyonce’s mother Tina Lawson has always been a champion of her famous daughters, Bey and Solange, and she’s the doting grandmother to her four grandchildren too. In a beautiful Instagram video, Lawson, danced and sang along to her five-year-old granddaughter blue ivy Carter's rap.

"This song is dedicated to Blue Ivy and her father," Tina wrote alongside the video. On Thursday, July 20, Tina dropped major hints about Rumi and Carter’s names, sharing a quote from the poetry of Jalal ad-Din Mohammad Rumi. She claimed that Beyonce and Jay-Z were inspired by the work of Mohammad Rumi.

“Though he was born in the 12th century, his words have had left an ever-lasting impression on our minds,” Tina said in a statement to BBC. Rumi is not only a beautiful name but also has a good meaning. Rumi means love, politeness, and humbleness.

Have Beyonce and Jay-Z named their little daughter after the Persian poet?

To this, Tina said that the Carters had always been a family of wordsmiths. Beyonce was inspired by the collections of Mohammad Rumi, so she and Jay-Z chose the last word of his name for their daughter. Jay-Z's original name is Shawn Carter, and Beyonce told Daily Mail that they named their son as Sir Carter because they liked this name a lot. Carter means a boy who brings prosperity and happiness to his family.

Jay-Z and Beyonce are not the first celebrities to select some grandiose honorific as the forenames – Kanye and Kim have adorable Saint, and Michael Jackson’s elder son is named as Prince. Even Michael Jackson's brother Jermaine named his son as Jermajesty. Rumi, on the other hand, is a famous Japanese word, but Beyonce’s mother claimed that her daughter and Jay-Z took inspiration from the name of Jalal ad-Din Mohammad Rumi and they did not know anything about Japanese girls’ name.
