Evodesk is an innovative furniture maker that just announced the debut of their latest health-focused invention known as the "Whiteboard Deskshield" which was made available to the public on May 9, 2017. By combining a useful whiteboard with their breakthrough standing desk, Evodesk hopes to help employees, students, and artists all over the world increase their creativity.

Moreover, the desk has many health benefits which have become a subject of much importance to a large number of people who tend to sit at desks all day long.

Health

Many jobs--especially in the white-collar fraction of the industry--require workers to sit in front of a computer typing for long stretches of time. Remaining seated for a prolonged period has been associated with numerous health risks, even if the sitter also exercises regularly. Remaining at a desk between eight to twelve hours a day can be dangerous and lead to an increased risk of developing issues such as cardiovascular breakdown, type two diabetes, and certain cancers.

Most of all, sitting for several hours a day increases the likelihood of obesity which taxes the body in some ways.

The designers at Evodesk understood the dangers of sitting for prolonged periods of time, and they decided to help decrease the health risks by creating a desk that workers could stand at. Such “standing desks” improve overall health since standing for even two hours a day can drastically reduce the risk of becoming obese.

The BBC and the University of Chester even found that people who stand several hours a day also tend to have healthier blood sugar levels and triglycerides.

“The BBC study also found that that working at a Standing Desk can burn just as many calories as running ten marathons in a year,” said Jamie Fertsch, the Director of Evodesk.

Productivity and focus can also be increased by standing while working. A study conducted by Texas A&M stated that standing during working hours made employees 46% more productive than workers who were seated during the same time period. Standing desks can also make for happier employees, as Jamie Fertsch noted. “In Denmark, the happiest country in the world, employers are required by law to provide employees with standing desks.”

Design

Evodesk has produced standing desks for several years, but the idea of making it a whiteboard is relatively new and derived from the idea that creative people are always writing things down and reconsidering plans and, therefore, having an erasable surface is very useful.

“A whiteboard helps to keep the flow of ideas moving,” Jamie Fertsch explained. “We love hearing that some of our clients are now able to work without pain because of our desks and we hope the whiteboard will help people better their creative process. The highest compliment we can receive is that we've changed someone's life for the better!”

Evodesk is currently working on new projects that will further evolve their roster of innovative designs.

“We've added storage options called the Highrise and the Pod to our desk choices in the last few months, and we plan to create an entire office furniture line shortly, including chairs and filing cabinet options,” Jamie said. “We continue to look for ways to evolve daily.”
