For the past couple of weeks in "Fortnite: Battle Royale" season 8, a number of excavation sites have popped up on the map and all players from different regions and matches are coming together to unlock the mysteries buried in the ground by digging together.

The first digging site, that appeared near the desert biome, revealed some sort of geyser. The second digging site that appeared in Dusty Divot was filled with lava once the last rock of the excavation site was destroyed, but the third excavation site has revealed a mysterious door to the underground.

Where does the door lead to?

The third digging site was revealed almost a week ago and it is located at the eastern side of Loot Lake. There's a huge chance that these sudden changes to the map are linked to season 8's major event because the helicopter, that appeared before the digging sites popped up on the map, was examining different locations of the map. Now, the "Fortnite" lore is making players dig these different holes in order to search for something that is probably going to be related to the event.

In the context of "Fortnite: Battle Royale" lore, the first two excavations were a complete failure but this time, players might have got their hands on something. The digging took almost a full day because the rocks in the hole had several hundred million health points and many players across different servers participated in excavating the site.

The process unearthed a mysterious and very large metal door on the floor.

Fortunately, the digging did not hit a dead end because the door does not look like the invulnerable bunker that have appeared on the map in the past. Although the door is not a hatch, it does look like it opens to a secret structure in the ground. A "Fortnite" data miner has found game files related to the digging sites and it does confirm that the third door leads to an underground facility, in case the game files leaks turn out to be true.

Here's how the underground structures look like:

Even though the leaker might not have been able to predict the order of the occurrence of the digging sites, he was sure that a dig site will appear in Dusty Divot and near Loot Lake.

Currently, the role of this new location in the major season 8 event is not known but there's a chance that the secret Discovery skin called "Ruin" will have something to do with this facility. If that's the case, then we will have to wait a couple of more weeks because the Ruin outfit will be unlockable in the eighth week of this season.

There's also a new "Fortnite: Battle Royale" update coming this week which will bring the new Reboot Van to the game, The new vehicle will allow players to respawn their fallen teammates.
