Epic Games has recently introduced some big things in "Fortnite Battle Royale" competitive world. The game developer has announced a $100 million prize pool for game tournaments and competitions, and players have already had a chance to play a few competitive modes. Now, it appears that Epic is preparing another competitive mode, and this mode will be nothing like previous competitive modes.
The first competitive mode in "Fortnite Battle Royale" was Solo Showdown and it had no special rules. The second mode, however, had a few big changes as players had to play under "Blitz" rules.
The upcoming competitive mode, Tactics Showdown, will also have special rules, and it might introduce the building nerf to the game.
Tactics Showdown competitive mode
According to datamined info, "Fortnite Battle Royale" players will Ground Game limited-time game mode soon. This mode will be playable in solo, duos, and squads playlists, but it will also have a competitive variant called Tactics Showdown.
"This mode encourages tactical combat and building by putting a cap on the amount of resources and ammunition players can carry. Player-built structures also start off with less health than normal, and when players are eliminated they will drop fewer resources than normal," is the game mode description, according to datamined files recovered by FNBRLeaks Twitter page.
The focus of this mode is combat between players and most of gun fights will happen on the ground as players will be unable to build too many structures and have build-off fights. Most of the limited-time game modes have had increased resource generation, so this upcoming mode will be unique and players will have to adapt to these rules in order to rank high.
Ranking
Epic Games hasn't revealed any information regarding to player rankings in this competitive mode. However, considering that Blitz Showdown, the last competitive mode, had separate rankings for each region, we can expect the game developer to do the same for Tactics Showdown.
Once again, we can expect top 100 players to receive V-Bucks and possibly other "Fortnite Battle Royale" in-game rewards.
In Blitz showdown, first place from every region received 20,000 V-Bucks, while players who ranked second, third, fourth, and fifth received 13,500 V-Bucks each. Finally, everyone else who made it to top 100 in regional rankings received 7,500 V-Bucks.
