The year is coming to an end, and the major holidays are rapidly approaching. This time of year is usually a big moment for most game developers, as they tend to release huge hits within the last few months. A few of those games in 2016 were "Gears of War 4" and "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare". What are those game titles going to be this year?

'Super Mario Odyssey'

Released on October 27, for the Nintendo Switch, "Super Mario Odyssey" has made a noticeable impact. Ben Gilbert (Business Insider) states that "you should seriously consider buying a Nintendo Switch just to play it." Unlike the standard side-scrolling style, "Super Mario Odyssey" brings unique features to Mario's skill set, allowing the gamer to have control over Mario's hat.

The hat, or Cappy, a ghost who teams up with Mario, allows him to take control of objects and creatures. The game is packed with all-new moves, and many new locations to explore.

'Star Wars Battlefront 2'

"Star Wars Battlefront 2" is one of the most talked about games of 2017. The game has a single-player mode that allows you to work with or against many of the Star Wars characters spanning across 30 years. "Star Wars Battlefront 2" includes the usual multiplayer mode where players will engage in massive battles with all the heroes and villains of the Star Wars universe. The developers just recently closed the beta testing. As a result, I'm sure gamers from around the country will be lined up outside of Gamestop's doors; desperately waiting to get their copy of the midnight release on November 17.

'Call of Duty: WWII'

Sledgehammer Games finally jumped back into the mix, since "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" released back in 2014. Fans of the series will have the chance to jump into the World War II era. This experience should be a nice change from jetpacks and energy weapons. The game's timeline is set after the events of D-Day when a recruit experiences combat for the first time.

Be a part of monumental battles, like Battle of the Bulge, on November 3.

'Fallout 4 VR'

Bethesda announced at E3 2016 that "Fallout 4 VR" would be coming to us in the future. On December 12, gamers can put on a VR headset and experience the Commonwealth like never before. Bethesda stated that they plan to include all of the game's original content; such as characters, locations, and quests.

The game will introduce a major change to V.A.T.S, according to lead producer Andrew Scharf ( Unlike the original game, the player can move around slowly while in V.A.T.S. With "Fallout 4" already being a huge success, we gamers are anxious to see what we can do with it's VR counterpart.
