Niantic has confirmed that Gen 3 Pokemon will be coming to "Pokemon GO" and will debut in the game's upcoming Halloween event which starts Friday, October 20. They have confirmed a number of ghost-type monsters from Gen 3, including Sableye and Benette, among other creatures originally spotted in the Hoenn Region. A report by Venture Beat sheds a lot of additional light on what comes next.
What about the rest of Gen 3 Pokemon?
Many speculate that the Gen 3 roster will not be seen all at once, but rather gradually starting off with the collection's Ghost-type Pokemon in time for the Halloween event.
The entire Gen 3 collection consists of a hundred creatures so the ones to be featured in the upcoming event are only a fraction of that. Niantic adds that the rest of Gen 3 will gradually appear beginning December.
The inclusion of Gen 3 Pokemon was initially leaked earlier this week when a data mine discovered the sounds for creatures up to No. 386. The number corresponds to Deoxys, who is the last Pokemon included in the Gen 3 collection, which was originally introduced in "Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire" for the Gameboy Advance in 2002.
Niantic recently added Mewtwo along with the three Jhotto legendary Pokemon but has yet to entirely add both the Gen 1 and Gen 2 Pokemon roster. A few notable creatures missing in the game are Celebi, Mew, Ho-Oh, Smeargle, and Delibird.
