“PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” has made an impressive feat right before it was officially released on the console. The battle royale title has already sold 13 million copies in just six months. It also broke several records on Steam as it made 1.5 concurrent users. The game is currently available on PC through Steam Early Access and is yet to release on Xbox One. Interestingly, a recent interview with the game developer’s founder revealed that the popular battle royale title would most likely be released on the Japanese console, PlayStation 4.
Sony’s console launch
While it is not officially announced by BlueHole or Sony, it appears that “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” will soon release on PlayStation 4. Fans already know that the popular battle royale title is going to be released on Microsoft’s Xbox One in the early part of 2018. The developer has been mum, however, about the potential of the game releasing on PlayStation 4.
Fortunately, in a recent interview with Bloomberg, BlueHole’s founder Chang Byung-gyu revealed that there have been talks with all major console companies. The founder specifically mentioned about on-going talks with the Japanese electronics titan Sony. According to Chang, the talk is about the possibility of introducing a PlayStation 4 version of the game after it launches on Xbox One.
Nintendo Switch
In the interview, it is worth noting that Chang mentioned all the main console companies but singled out Sony. Nintendo is considered as a major console company, and fans could not help but speculate on the possibility of the game releasing on the hybrid console. Getting a Nintendo Switch version for the popular battle royale title will only maximize the potential of the game to rake in more revenues for BlueHole.
Getting 1.5 million concurrent users on Steam alone is already an impressive feat. Imagine the possibilities of releasing the game on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The battle royale title has already beaten “Dota 2” on Steam, and if it gets to be released on other platforms, it is hard to tell what more it can achieve.
New features
Meanwhile, creative director Brendan Greene, recently revealed through Reddit’s Ask-Me-Anything that new features are currently in the works and will soon be released in the game. The director mentioned about the Single Player Mode and ranked Play among others. He also said that there would be three new vehicles that players can soon use.
Greene even released the image of one of the vehicles, which resembles a Volkswagen minibus. Players are looking forward to more features, activities, and exciting additions to “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.”
