On August 16, 2017, the Finnish company, HMD Global, launched the highly-anticipated Nokia Android flagship smartphone dubbed the Nokia 8. People were expecting the tech giant to announce some details about the much-rumored Nokia 9 handset at the launch event, but this did not happen.

According to GSMArena, the HMD Global representatives confirmed at the launch event that the company is currently working on a handset that will feature a comparatively bigger screen than the Nokia 8. Notably, the makers haven’t yet officially confirmed anything about Nokia 9’s specs, features, release date or pricing details.

The handset has already been the subject of a lot of rumors and speculations in the last few weeks.

Possible specs and features

The Nokia 8 features a 5.3 inches screen and has a 16:9 screen-to-body ratio. The Nokia 9 is rumored to get an 18:9 virtually full-screen display.

The upcoming handset is likely to get an iris scanner and a fingerprint sensor as well some extra RAM over the Nokia 8. The smartphone is rumored to offer 128GB of standard storage option. As far as the camera is concerned, the device is expected to feature a dual-camera system with a 13-megapixel main camera and a 13-megapixel front camera on board.

Among other specs, the Nokia 9 is rumored to sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, an Adreno 540 GPU, at least 6 or 8GB of RAM, a 3,800mAh battery, an IP68 certification and Quick Charge 4.0 support.
