On August 29th, Digital Domain and Universal Brand Development announced "DreamWorks Voltron VR Chronicles," a video game adaptation of the well-received Netflix series, "DreamWorks Voltron Legendary Defender." We already spoke about the initial reveal, and it is now time to go into a bit more detail.
Fans create their own experience
Universal Brand Development's Chris Heatherly, their executive vice present of Games and Digital Platforms, explained in a press release that they aim to create an immersive experience which allows players to feel part of the world of "Voltron." In collaboration with Digital Domain, their goal is to allow "fans to step inside the world of DreamWorks Voltron Legendary Defender and create their own memorable adventure,” continued Mr.
Heatherly.
As "DreamWorks Voltron VR Chronicles" serves as a companion piece to the series, the narrative extends the storylines explored on Netflix with the player in the driving seat.
Digital Domain's Director of Creative Development, Wayne Kennedy believes "DreamWorks Voltron VR Chronicles" should be able to satisfy fans of the source material and possibly introduce the series to new customers.
The game will be available to buy from September 26 on the PlayStation VR, HTC Vive, and Oculus Rift. The former can be purchased from the PlayStation Store, while the latter two via Steam. Oculus' online store will also be an option for the Oculus Rift.
The story will see players team up with the show's characters to fight off the threat of Zarkon.
Regarding gameplay, all we know is that puzzles will be included and other challenges.
Customers can pre-order "Voltron VR Chronicles" from the PlayStation Store to receive a 20% discount.
