Valve has recently launched a small Patch before The International 7 qualifying Matches. It comes with some changes for a lot of characters in the popular competitive video game, Dota 2.
A lot of changes for characters
Despite the patch’s small size, Valve has made a lot of changes to the many characters of Dota 2. This new update was numbered patch 7.06e, which comes with a lot of tweaks and it included an upgrade on the Alchemist.
The neutral small camps in the video game will now have a gold bounty increased by 10 percent, which is a significant advantage for some players.
The Veil of Discord will now cost 500 instead of 400, which could be a slight pain for some. The Bloodthorn critical strike damage has now been reduced from 1.45x to 1.4x, which could be a balancing update for the video game.
The Alchemist has two changes this time around with its Base Agility increased from 11 to 16, which is almost 50 percent of an upgrade. The Greevil’s Greed Bounty Rune multiplier was also increased from 2x to 2.5x.
Character veteran Lina also got some changes like her Dragon Slave damage, which got reduced from 110/180/250/320 to 85/160/235/310. Her level 24 talent, however, was increased from +40/4 percent Fiery Soul to +35/3 percent.
The Queen of Pain gets a change with her base damage reduced by 4 this time around.
Her level 25 spell Lifesteal also gets reduced from 70 percent to 60 percent, which is a slight reduction and might not affect the players who use her constantly as their character.
The list goes on with many changes from other characters as well, but one of the notable changes was Naga Siren’s health regen, which has now tripled in value.
Some of these changes will play significant roles in the TI7 qualifying matches soon.
Dota 2 tournament structure gets changes
In other related news, Valve has announced that the popular video game tournament will get its structure changed in the next year. The game publisher revealed that they will take a more organic approach to the competitive ecosystem next year.
They will also work more closely with third-party tournaments, which means that they will select more third-party tournaments to directly sponsor.
The Major tournaments will now include events that will have a minimum prize pool of $500,000 and the game publisher will also provide another $500,000. For the Minor tournaments, these will have a $150,000 range, and the game company will also provide matching funds as well. All of these events will have to require admitting at least one team from each region all over the world through a qualifier process.
Fans of the Dota 2 tournaments tweeted to express their joy over this new announcement from Valve. They are happy that the game company is opening up for everyone to join up and give them meaning.
I really can't express how happy I am that Valve are opening up Minors and Majors for everyone to run & giving them meaning!
