Microsoft is about to reveal its Xbox Project Scorpio at the coming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2017 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. So, game enthusiasts are now wondering if its main competitor, Sony, is going to reveal any details about PlayStation 5 at the event.

There are a lot of assumptions and theories revealed about the company's next flagship game console. And although little is known about PS5, here are some things that have been unveiled.

Is Sony going to release the PS5?

Sony is still busy promoting and developing the PlayStation 4 Pro and the PlayStation VR.

Hence, the appearance of PlayStation 5 at Electronic Entertainment Expo 2017 is still far from happening.

It is not yet known if the device will be named PS5 or will be called something else. Unfortunately, fans can’t expect the game console to be released this year. Macquarie Capital Securities analyst Damian Thong told the Wall Street Journal that he assumed it might be out in the latter part of 2018.

Hence, there will be a big possibility that it will be unveiled in the next Electronic Entertainment Expo 2018. This will give Sony the chance to dominate the sales during the holiday season with if this happens.

However, according to Value Walk, the future of PlayStation 5 is still far from certain.

In a separate interview with Tech Radar, Sony President Shuhei Yoshida revealed that the release of PS5 is still a question “if it will be out” and not “when it will be out.” But, some assume that it is just the company’s way to assure their consumers that their other game consoles will still be supported and active in the coming years.

The assumed specs of PS5

Moreover, the official specs of the PlayStation 5 are not yet revealed, but rumors have it that Sony might use the internal design of Xbox Project Scorpio as its guide to build its own device or even exceed it.

The PS5 is more likely to use the CPU architecture from AMD. It might also use the new and improved Radeon technology for its GPU.

Lastly, it is expected to be 400 percent more powerful than the current PlayStation 4. Hence, game enthusiasts are assuming that it would be an impressive and powerful game console that will surpass what Microsoft has to offer.

Possible price of PS5

It is still hard to assume the price of PlayStation 5 as it will depend on the components used in the device. However, with the tight competition of the emerging game consoles today in the market, Sony might not make it too pricey and could be priced at around $500.
