Niantic will officially be celebrating the one-year anniversary of its highly popular augmented reality mobile video game, "Pokémon Go," this July. Fans were apparently right to assume that the company would be holding a big event to celebrate the occasion as Niantic has now announced its first-ever real-world event that will be happening next month.
A holiday for 'Pokémon' fans
To celebrate the momentous occasion, Niantic has announced a big anniversary bash, called the "Pokémon Go Fest." The event will be taking place on July 22, in different locations across Europe and the United States.
One location that was officially announced will apparently take place at Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois. The event, aptly called "Pokémon Go Fest Chicago," has been described to include a lot of exciting activities among other things.
Tickets for the Chicago event have been announced to officially go on online sale on Monday, June 19. They will start selling at exactly 10:00 a.m. PDT. Meanwhile, several other events are scheduled to take place all throughout September.
What's in store for fans
The description of what will actually be going down during the numerous live events has been somewhat vague. Niantic mentions that the venues will give players a chance to interact with each other and engage in different activities.
However, they didn't really specify if it meant that there would be Pokémon-themed rides or if the activities would entail rare Pokémon spawns during the special occasion. Having rare, or perhaps legendary Pokémon spawn during the event would certainly make it worthwhile for fans to attend as opposed to riding around on merry go rounds.

In the meantime
While waiting for the tickets to officially go live and for Niantic to announce the venues and dates for the other real-world events, players can check out the upcoming new event scheduled for the game next week.
From June 13 up to June 20, players of the game will be able to encounter an increased number of Fire-type and Ice-type Pokémon. The event called the "Solstice Event" will be celebrating the coming of summer in the Northern Hemisphere and winter in the Southern Hemisphere.
Other bonuses include increased experienced when achieving tasks related to Poke ball tossing. This will include accomplishments such as catching a Pokémon with a curve ball, catching on the first throw, or getting a perfect throw. Additionally, players will get a huge discount for Lucky Eggs within the in-game shop.
