Months of speculations and rumors can now finally be put to rest as Activision has announced details regarding the release dates and beta test dates for its highly anticipated title, "Destiny 2." At the ongoing 2017 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) event, Activision officially revealed new details regarding its first person sequel, which was also accompanied by a brand new reveal trailer.

PC version release

The rumor regarding the PC version being released later than the console versions has now been proven to be accurate. Activision clarified that the PC gamers will be getting their copy of the game close to two months after the release of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions.

The Release Date for the console has also apparently been moved a bit to a Sept. 6 release date. The PC version, on the other hand, will roll out on Oct. 24.

Additionally, PlayStation 4 players have been revealed to be getting some exclusive items including a multiplayer map, Strike, and additional content. The exclusive content will be made available to other platforms sometime in the fall of 2018. The PC version, on the other hand, will be getting some added features, including higher resolution and framerates support as well as other graphic options.

Beta tests

During the event, the official beta test schedules were also revealed. Those who will pre-order the game will be getting access to the beta, which will be taking place on July 18 for the PlayStation 4.

Xbox One players will get access to the beta a day after, on July 19. The beta tests for the consoles will officially end on July 23 for both platforms. PC gamers will get access to the beta in August, but Bungie had not specified the actual dates and only mentioned that it would be sometime in "late August."

Story-focused sequel

Based on the recently released trailer, the upcoming sequel will likely be a bit different from its predecessor as it may be strongly focused on its new storyline.

The entire trailer is narrated by Dominus Ghaul, the hulking emperor of the Cabal, who has now laid siege to The Last City. He is shown completely defeating the Guardians and telling them that they do not deserve the light that was given to them by the Traveler.

However, the Guardians refuse to accept defeat and have now banded together. Players will be tasked to work with each other and to acquire new powers in order to eventually face Ghaul and get back what was taken from them.
