Are you eating enough Fiber every day? This is a question many people should ask themselves. Fiber is a very important nutrient for everyone's overall health. I think many people know that this nutrient helps with their digestive system but they don't know that fiber actually cannot be digested. Make sense? Probably not, but if you keep reading on I will explain to you why this molecule is extremely confusing but beneficial. Most of the information in this article comes from WebMD.

When eating foods with fiber in them, the actual molecule is not broken down.

Every other nutrient in that food such as protein, sugar, salt etc. is broken down, except for fiber. This molecule just slides through your digestive system like a slithering snake and is why the nutrient is so good for your health. It helps with your bowel movements sliding them down your intestines and out through your (you know what). But how can you incorporate more fiber into your diet? In fact, you can in many ways!

Ways to eat more fiber!

Breakfast, I would say, is the most important meal of the day. There are plenty of ways you could incorporate fiber into your breakfast routine! Oatmeal is a heart-healthy meal lots of people do not enjoy. But you can be very creative with this food and make so many different combinations to your liking to have a fiber-filled breakfast.

Some fun and delicious ways you can make your oatmeal more appetizing are to add fruits! Popular fruits include blueberries, strawberries, and my favorite, bananas. By adding fruits you will get a more sweet taste of natural sugars rather than just bland oats. More additions include peanut butter or almond butter, nuts, dried fruits, coconut flakes, raisins and craisins, cinnamon, and if you don't want to be too healthy, brown sugar is a great addition.

Oatmeal does not have to be nasty, it can be so delicious if you are creative!

Wheat bread

A second creative fiber-filled breakfast idea includes whole wheat bread with a peanut or almond butter, bananas, raisins, nuts and more. Whole wheat bread is considered an insoluble fiber which has less nutritional value but still helps with digestion.

This breakfast is very healthy and quick for early morning people. Another way to incorporate fiber throughout your day is to drink Meta Mucil. Meta Mucil is a fiber powder you add to water. Though not the best tasting, it is an awesome way to get your fiber in. Surprisingly, dark leafy greens have lots of the nutrient in them as well. These foods include spinach, broccoli and more. Low in calories and high in fiber can't get any better than that.
